The Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad (IIIT-A) was established in 1999, as a
center of excellence in Information Technology and allied areas. The institute was conferred the
"Deemed University" status by Govt. of India in the year 2000.
Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Cyber Law and Information Security, originally started as Master of
Science (M.S.) course in 2004, is currently harboring its first batch of students.
This course consists of varied subjects covering various aspects of Cyber law and Information Security
related topics which are essential to create a successful cyber security workforce for organizations.
This course covers 5 out of 10 security domains as defined by (ISC)2 [International Information Systems
Security Certification Consortium] for CISSP certification. Students are given hands-on on various security tools and application,
giving them practical and in-depth knowledge and training, and also encouraging them to go a step further and do something innovative.
The curriculum has been designed to provide the students an in-depth understanding of core concepts
with major thrust on functional competencies wherein students are exposed to real life situations.
The course in its totality is planned around the e-commerce model of virtual business,
bearing strong adherence to computer based technological skills and capabilities, and thereby resulting
in efficiency to handle a variety of Techno-Legal operations in any organization.
The Institute has been conceived with the ambitious objectives of
developing professional expertise and skilled manpower in Information Technology (IT) and related areas.
As an apex nucleating institute in the area of IT, the establishment of IIIT-A, is a major step of
Govt. of India towards strengthening the indigenous capability necessary for exploiting profitably
and harnessing multi-dimensional facets of IT at all levels, and attaining expertise to enable the
country to emerge as a leading player in the global arena.
